Hamilton Island
Perfectly situated in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, nestled among the Whitsunday Islands, Hamilton Island offers an experience like no other: glorious weather, azure waters, brilliant beaches, awe-inspiring coral reefs, fascinating flora and fauna, fine food and wines, and activities almost too numerous to mention. With a wide range of restaurants, bars, takeaways, boutiques and shops plus a commercial marina, sports complex and chapel (Could there be a more perfect place to say “I do”?) – not to mention 20 kilometres of bushwalking trails – Hamilton has it all. Whether you’re looking for action, relaxation, romance or a fun family getaway, it’s all here in abundance, with new experiences and adventures waiting around every corner.
Activities
Discover the picturesque waterways in a private dinghy or sail the day away on board a luxury yacht, stopping off at Whitehaven Beach, renowned for the dazzling perfection of its white sand. Swim, dive or snorkel to your heart’s content, then test your sporting prowess with a full-day game fishing trip, followed by a dinner of the day’s catch (yours, of course) cooked to perfection on the barbecue.
For a change of pace, grab your walking shoes (and a gourmet picnic hamper) and hit the trail to Passage Peak where you’ll be rewarded with spectacular 360° views of the Whitsundays. Or simply bask on pristine beaches or by one of the many enticing swimming pools. Then make your way to the award-winning Beach House for what might prove the longest (and best) lunch you’ve ever had – our five-course degustation menu.
Lovers of fine food can mingle with some Australia’s best chefs at the Great Barrier Feast or Chef’s Table Weekends. And sailors won’t want to miss the Audi Hamilton Island Race Week – the largest offshore yachtracing event in Australia.
Take a scenic flight, cuddle a koala, go twilight sailing or do nothing at all. At Hamilton Island, it’s all about doing exactly what you please.
